Project Update: The Flow Restriction Control Structure in Coming Down

By Matt Eddy, MMOC Administrator

The US Army Corps of Engineers and Charter Engineering have begun dismantling the flow restriction control structure (FRCS), the temporary dam established near Back Bay Yard.  Stormwater from this week’s nor’easter can be seen flowing at a rapid rate over the newly reduced barrier.

According to Brookline Conservation Agent Tom Brady, “This [work] is the preliminary effort to remove excess structure. The final stage of removal for the FRCS is under review to ensure the appropriate actions are undertaken in an appropriate sequence.”
