Restoration Update: Willow Pond and Leverett Pond

By Matt Eddy, MMOC Administrator

On Tuesday, June 4, the MMOC hosted Sam Downes (Brookline DPW Project Engineer) and Tom Brady (Muddy River Project Representative) for a presentation of the Town’s plan to restore Willow Pond and the Leverett Pond shoreline.

Anticipated work includes removal of approximately 1,000 cubic yards of sediment from Willow Pond, installation of a new outflow control structure, coir log installation and bank stabilization along both Willow Pond and Leverett Pond, and landscaping.

Every effort will be made to maintain/improve aquatic habitat, reduce downstream ecological impacts, and minimize disruptions to public use of pedestrian pathways in the area. Pending receipt of final permits, pond dredging could take place as early as January 2025, with landscaping to take place the following spring.

Thanks to Sam and Tom for their time and expertise and for addressing our many questions!
