You may have noticed a network of white lines painted on the sidewalk and in the grass areas of Justine Mee Liff Park. MassDOT and Boston Transportation Department are in the process of redesigning Boylston Street through the Fenway neighborhood, extending to the stretch of Brookline Avenue between The Fenway and Park Drive. The white lines are an effort to map out underground utilities that are relevant to that work.
The project is still in the planning stages but will likely include the addition of dedicated bike lanes, widening of some sidewalks, and changes to traffic flow. If the project ends up disrupting parkland, MassDOT will work with Boston Parks and Recreation Department to ensure that any disturbed areas are fully restored.
A public hearing for this project is likely to occur in the coming months, but no specific date has been announced. Link to MassDOT project 606453, and stay tuned!
