Landscaping update! In late October and early November, Boston Parks and Recreation Department and its subcontractor Leahy Landscaping, Inc. installed new shrubs in the space between the road and bridge headwall on Avenue Louis Pasteur. The species include Hancock Coralberry, Common Snowberry, and Fragrant Sumac.
Just down Park Drive (upstream), new mulch rings have been added around shrubs planted during the spring. Although some of the plantings struggled during the summer drought, nearly all seem to be bouncing back with new growth. The mulch provides needed protection from cold winter conditions.
We welcome these new plantings to the Muddy River environment. A central goal of the ongoing Restoration Project is Historic Landscape Rehabilitation.
