In its December 29th issue, the Brookline News‘ Sam Mintz provides an up-to-date report on the December 8th oil spill. As mitigation efforts and investigation into causation are ongoing, the local newspaper will likely continue its coverage.
Erin Chute, Brookline’s public works commissioner, is quoted as saying that “town staff have been working closely with MassDEP to try to locate the source of the spill. Town workers have investigated a list of underground storage tanks within the watershed.
Not being able to come to a conclusion or find the source has been ‘really frustrating for all parties,’ Chute said. ‘We want to make sure it doesn’t happen again.’”
