The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) announced on February 23rd that Agassiz Road in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood is now open to vehicular traffic, after a three-year closure.
According to DCR’s press release, “The road was closed to vehicular traffic to accommodate work on The Muddy River Restoration Project, a large-scale engineering and historic park restoration effort that was completed earlier this winter. The project addressed long-standing concerns about flood risk, ecosystem degradation, and historic preservation along the historic 3.5-mile urban waterway.
Over the next year, DCR will be conducting a feasibility study on the use and design of Agassiz Road. The findings will serve as a foundation for recommendations for the future use of the road.”
