Planting begins in some areas: 90-day look-ahead

Dredging in Leverett Pond at Olmsted Park: April 90-Day Look-Ahead
April 22, 2021. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has advised that dredging in Leverett Pond at Olmsted Park, Brookline (Work Area 1) will begin by the end of April and last for several months.

Carlton Street Footbridge Rehabilitation Begins
April 22, 2021. Aetna Bridge Company has started work on the rehabilitation of the Carlton Street Footbridge. This steel truss bridge was designed by Alexis H. French, Brookline’s first Town Engineer, working in collaboration with Frederick Law Olmsted, and was constructed in 1894. When the rehabilitation is completed in 2022, pedestrian access over the MBTA Riverside Line from Brookline’s Monmouth neighborhood to Olmsted’s Overlook in Riverway Park will be restored for the first time in more than 45 years.
